I was born on the summer solstice in 1953, third oldest in a family that would eventually include six boys and six girls. Growing up, we often performed at school dances and church events in bucolic Cornwall-on-Hudson. I wrote my first song at age 10, and have written thousands since. My family was close to legendary folksinger Pete Seeger (who lived across the river), and I often accompanied him at labor rallies and Sloop Clearwater events (see photo section). I worked as a lifelong Teamsters Union organizer and editor, until retiring upon the death of my wife Jeanette in 2019. Since then I've been writing and recording these songs, as well as three books (linked below).
Lenny Underwood is a veteran NYC session musician and bandleader who has played and/or recorded with Madonna, Amy Winehouse, Celine Dion, Harry Belafonte, Chaka Khan, Eddie Vedder and Chris Botti. He tours Europe regularly, where the club dance music he helped create with Unlimited Touch in his younger years still has a strong following. We met in 2006, introduced by mutual friend Ramon Regina during a union organizing drive. He is as much a friend as he is a producer and master musician. Since 2019 we've been working on this project, released in 2026. We continually record new songs we then upload to this site and add to all platforms.
The lovely Debbie Major sings all female background vocals. We've been musical and personal friends since the 1980s; I consider her the Ella Fitzgerald of the Hudson Valley. My best buddy Matt Strohman and cousin Lawrence Cullen added colors, ideas, a few electric guitar parts, and lyric help.
Besides composing music, I've written Remember The Light (poetry and photography), Working Class Manifesto (a call to negotiate workplace contracts), and Secret Souls (a spiritual thriller). Those books are linked below (see last few words of each link for book title). They are meant to accompany the themes of love, social awareness and spirituality woven through the songs.
